The Southern Skinny-Dipping Society

Here's a reminder to AANR members: please remember to submit your ballots and vote on the important issue of regional membership for Louisiana. As you probably know, Louisiana has the possibility to be a part of either AANR-SW, or remain as part of AANR-East. Whichever way you choose to vote, please do so soon. Your vote counts, and will ultimately affect Louisiana nudists.

Well, so far the 2009-2010 winter has been a cold one here in the deep south, and with that cold the barren trees, dead vegetation, and dreary days have made the life of a skinny-dipper pretty miserable at times. I'm sure all of us can identify with the now desperate desire to strip off our winter clothes, dance out into the sunlight, and dive into a pool somewhere with friends. And lets not forget those special, summer beverages we all enjoy!

But let's also remember some of the great things happening, and the potential that lies ahead. Most of us have been following the meteoric rise of the New Orleans Saints throughout the 2009-2010 football season, and the team's subsequent Superbowl victory. Although it remains to be seen whether or not the team's success somehow portends a change in fortunes for New Orleans and the surrounding region, perhaps in some way it is indeed a sort of fuel for the community engine, a catalyst for a new, can-do attitude, and the rise of a deep and substantive pride for the communities throughout the Gulf Coast; a new energy and sense of purpose. Whatever it may be, and become, we as the Southern Skinny-Dipping Society have the opportunity to grasp some of that positive energy, and fuel our own organization and purpose. As acclaimed author Chaim Potok declared in one of his many novels that "all beginnings are hard", it is my hope that we will invest the needed energy into our fledgling organization, and make it what we want it to be. To do that will require everyone's support, creativity, and ideas; and though there will certainly be challenges to face, I am confident we can build something meaningful and fun for everyone who desires to be a part of the group. So let's dive in literally and figuratively, and work toward a great 2010 skinny-dipping season!
